Margaux starting and training graduate, Breaking Lucky, won the Grade 3 Seagram Cup Stakes at Woodbine racetrack on Monday, August 1st.
Purchased as a weanling from the Keeneland November sale for $100,000, Breaking Lucky was boarded at Margaux Farm. The chestnut colt by Lookin At Lucky entered the farm’s starting and training program October of his yearling year.
“He was a big, strong colt with plenty of presence about him,” said farm trainer, Dermot Littlefield. “He handled his breaking and training very professionally, and was always a forward going horse. I remember when we started breezing him on the turf, he was a horse that began to show a lot of class.”
It was the first win of the year for the 4-year-old colt who won last out in the Prince of Wales S. at Fort Erie. Earlier this year, he was second in both the Dominion Day S. (G2) and Eclipse S. (G2) at Woodbine Racetrack.
Breaking Lucky has accumulated $485,626 in earnings, and is 3-3-3 from 13 career starts.
