Margaux Moment of the Month: Defining Hope Wins Debut

Thursday, September 1, 2016

2-year-old filly, Defining Hope, won her debut at Indiana Grand on August 30 for breeder owner Colette VanMatre. The dark bay filly by Strong Hope stalked the pace early four wide, and drew clear down the stretch to take her first victory.

Ridden by Malcolm Franklin and trained by Barbara McBride, Defining Hope captured her debut by a five length margin against the twelve horse field.

A graduate of the Margaux Farm starting and training program, Defining Hope shipped to trainer Barbara McBride in June.

“Dermot saw that my filly needed a little extra time for her mental development during her training and he allowed for it. It has made all the difference in her confidence level,” said owner Colette VanMatre. Barbara was thrilled with the training and preparation and overall body condition of my horse. The transition to the track was seamless for my horse. I couldn’t be more pleased with the training program at Margaux.”
