Margaux Starting & Training Grad IRONSTONE proved to be much the best, capturing the Simcoe S. by 81/2 lengths at Woodbine on August 29.
He broke sharply in the 6 1/2 furlong contest over Woodbine’s all-weather track and showed the field through early fractions of :22.98 and :46.21. He extended to a 4-length lead at the top of the stretch and finally pulled away to win by 8 1/2 lengths in 1:16.61.
A mere $5,365 yearling purchase, he is raced by Tequesta Racing Inc. and Jupiter Leasing Co. Trained by Willie Armata, the 2 YO son of Mr.Speaker now has earnings of $113,051 from three career starts.
