Sarah Carr
Lead Guitar(NY), owned by Jim and Susan Hill, had her first foal in the early hours of Monday morning, January 16th. A filly by 146 Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic Winner Authentic who stands at Spendthrift Farm.
Jim and Susan purchased this mare as a yearling in the Saratoga New York sale in 2017. Trained by George Weaver she went on the win the Floral Park Stakes at Belmont Park and the Autumn Days Stakes at Aqueduct. She retired from racing in 2022 and joined the broodmare program at the farm. Lead Guitar will be covered by Golden Pal who stands at Coolmore in 2023.
The mare has been superstar since foaling and this first time mom is doing a fantastic job of looking after her foal. The filly has been equally as impressive since her arrival with a big blaze and four white socks, she is definitely her daddy’s girl. She has shown to be a very intelligent foal and was born a good size weighing 124lbs. We are very excited to watch her grow up here at the farm.
