Blue Heaven Farm’s Starship Jubilee improved on last year’s fourth place finish and captured her first G1 win to became racing’s newest millionaire in Saturday’s E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine. Her one length also gave trainer Kevin Attard his first grade 1 victory.
Adopting slightly difference tactics, Starship Jubilee tracked pacesetter Red Tea through sensible fractions before taking the lead turning for home and holding off the late challenges from Euro invaders Durance and Platane, who closed to finish second and third respectively.
The 6-year-old daughter of Indy Wind covered the 1 1/14 mile on a turf course rated as “good” in 2:03.29 under jockey Luis Contreras. 2019 has proven to be Starship Jubilee’s best season yet, as she has not finished off the board in six starts and now carries an overall record of 14 wins from 31 starts.
