Back in the winner’s circle for the first time since 2019, Jim & Susan Hill’s DADDY IS A LEGEND was strong every step of the way to capture a salty Keeneland allowance going 1 1/16 miles on the turf April 22, 2021.
Making her 6 YO debut, DADDY IS A LEGEND broke just behind front runner WINTER SUNSET, who led the pack through an honest pace of :49.43 and 1:14.55. DADDY IS A LEGEND, fully in the bridle, chased just off the leader and easily kicked clear a 1/16 from home to win by a 3/4 length in 1:44.24.
The multiple G1 placed daughter of Scat Daddy had been off since a fifth place finish in the G2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile in September of last year, and has spent her time legging back up at Margaux before returning to George Weaver’s barn. This filly is no stranger to the team at Margaux, who has started, trained and freshened her since she was purchased by the Hill’s as a yearling in 2016. She has been on the board in 12 of 18 career starts with a bankroll of $585,210.
