Margaux Starting & Training Grad MERNEITH led gate-to-wire, defeating favorite CECE to capture back-to-back editions of the G2 Santa Monica S., going 7F on the dirt at Santa Anita February 5.
Owned by HRH Prince Sultan bin Mishal Al Saud and trained by Bob Baffert, the daughter of AMERICAN PHAROAH kicked off her 5 YO campaign with a runner up finish in the Kalookan Queen S. at Santa Anita in January after being off since capturing the same graded contest nearly a year prior.
This marked the second Graded Stakes victory for the $600,000 2 YO sale purchase. Career highlights include third place finishes in the G2 Santa Anita Oaks and G1 La Brea as a 3 YO, on the board in 11 of 12 career starts and a $493,620 bankroll.
