Phantom Currency Returns in Style

Margaux Freshening & Training Grad PHANTOM CURRENCY scored a game half length victory in the G3 Kitten’s Joy Appleton Stakes, going 1 mile on the turf at Gulfstream Park on April 2.

Coming off a 13-month layoff, PHANTOM CURRENCY was expertly prepared by trainer Brian Lynch with a serious of strong works at Palm Meadows. He quickly went to the lead following the break and never looked back once in front. Turning for home jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. asked for more and he responded strongly, completing the mile in 1:34.48.

Owned by Margaux Farm owners, Jim & Susan Hill, PHANTOM CURRENCY was a $260,000 yearling purchase at Keeneland September. His win in the Appleton Stakes marked his second graded stakes victory after his win in the G2 Mac Diarmada in February of 2021. He now has earnings of $374,495 and will point towards the G2 Elkhorn Stakes at Keeneland April 23.
