Allied Racing’s Mr. Money collected his fourth consecutive graded stakes victory in the West Virginia Derby (G3) at Mountaineer Racetrack Saturday on night, when cruising home a comfortable six lengths in front. The three year old Goldencents colt also became racing’s newest millionaire with the victory, pushing his career earnings to $1,074,220. Sent off as the 1-2 favorite, Mr. Money tracked the leader before poking his head in front after three quarters in 1:12:99 and drawing off to win in a final time of 1:50.28 for the mile and an eighth.
The $130,000 2017 Keeneland September purchase was started at Margaux Farm and is trained by Brett Calhoun. The September 21st Pennsylvania Derby (G1) is said to be his next target, where he could run in to Kentucky Derby first place finisher Maximum Security.
