Following a layoff and freshening at Margaux Farm, five year old mare Zofelle returned to form by winning the Marshua’s River Stakes (G3T) at Gulfstream Park on Saturday on the Pegasus World Cup undercard.
Zofelle stalked the pace under rider Tyler Gaffalione and broke away in the stretch to score by two lengths, increasing her career earnings to $228,544.
This was Zofelle’s first start since the Just A Game Stakes (G1T) in June of 2020. Trainer Brendan Walsh said after the race "She had a very good year last year… We gave her a break. She came back from the break and she had been working really, really good. Came to hand really fast, had been working well for this, so it was nice to see her do what she did there."
Zofelle is out of Height of Elegance (Galileo), a sibling of G1 winner Listen and Sequoyah, dam of Henrythenavigator.
The team at Margaux Farm would like to extend a sincere congratulations to owner Heider Family Stables and all of the connections.
