Spooky Channel (English Channel) earned his second graded stakes victory on Sunday, crossing the wire first in the 1-1/2 mile Connally Turf Cup (G3T) at Sam Houston Race Park.
The six year old made his seasonal debut as the 3-2 favorite under rider Julien Leparoux in his second start after a layoff and freshening at Margaux Farm. Spooky Channel was fourth through the opening quarter, fifth at the half and third after a mile, moving into second at the quarter pole and digging in to win by a neck in a final time of 2:30.94 on a firm course.
Spooky Channel has nine career wins, twice second with updated career earnings of $395,022.
